The Straight & Narrow

The boxed and narrow-minded suit balances his briefcase so well he doesn't notice the blazing flowers, life and glories all around. His heart and face are empty. His ear is pinned flat against his head. He walks a thin edge between grass and gardenia. And at the end of his journey, he will probably still not know that he walks exalted in the Garden of Life.

How many times we are told we must sacrifice, toe the line, walk the Straight & Narrow path. Nay! This is only the path for the dull-witted coward. The reward for a predictable life is the predictable: death. The reward for living life to its fullest is life itself. This does not mean one should choose debauchery and murder, theft and rape. Rather, simply cast your eyes in a new direction, try a different tack, don't hold yourself so stiff.

For the road to God is NOT the Straight & Narrow, but the spiraling, devious, turns and twists life offers at every moment.
