Safe Inside

Within the solitary prison cell we pretend there's no hope. Our dreams long ago seeped down the drain. We no longer remember the heart-felt combination that now locks tight the steel doors. And anyways, the yellow light outside is just too strong.

Perhaps having two doors makes life too hard a choice. Certainly it's easier to just stay locked up inside. Someday we might escape. But not today. Today we cuddle in the dark, cold womb of our despair. Awaiting our stillborn freedom from this life.

Wake up! The game isn't over. The door isn't rusted shut yet. It's still daylight. You hold the key inside your heart. Use it!
